Tomas Baros

  

Tomas Baros was born on 31 August 1985 in Teplice. He belongs to the youngest tallented contrabass players on the musicscene. Coming from musical family, his father, Julius Baros, a well-noted trumpetist has been his life and music inspiration. He taught him from his young age. At Prague Jazz Scene from his 14 years with the finest jazz musicians of Czech republic. He studied classical double bass at the Prague College of Music, in professor Květoslav Borovička'sclass.In 1999 first prize of clasic competision in his category.

In 2003 he was given the "Solo Player of the Year" award at the International Jazz & Blues Festival in Ústí nad Labem,in Junior Jazz competition.In 2004 he received the Berklee Collegeof Music in Boston scholarship.2012 winner of the jazz prix competision with Miroslav Hloucal Quartet. From 2006 is a member of Gustav Brom czech radio Big Band and CZ-SK Big Band of Matus Jakabcic.

As a performer, he has played with stars like Alex Sipiagin, Benito Gonzales,Roberta Gambarini, Piotr Wojtasik,New York voices, John Betsch, Adam Pieroncik,Igor Buttman, Benny Golson, Rick Margitza, Douglas Sides, Winand Gabor, Dennis Rowland, Karen Edwards.....
