Ádám Gráf

He was born on September 28, 1976, in the city of Mohács. He began his music studies  as a trumpet player in 1991 at the Franz Liszt Music School. He entered a number of talent competitions throughout Hungary. After his secondary level studies, he attended to the trumpet faculty of the Music Academy of Graz – his master was Arnold Stanko. In 1999 he began his studies on the jazz faculty of the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, where his master was Kornél-Fekete Kovács – current artistic leader of Modern Art Orchestra. He graduated in 2003. Right after his college degree, he was invited to Budapest Jazz Orchestra and from 2005 to Modern Art Orchestra.

Ádám is currently working as a trumpet instructor in two music schools of Hungary. In 2011 he was invited to the Prague International Jazz Camp to present a lecture demonstration. A year earlier he was the brass section leader in the Cz–Sk Big Band, a jazz ensemble led by guitar player, composer and arranger Matus Jakabcic of Slovakia. Ádám has attended many jazz festivals of the region ever since – amongst others, the prestigious Serbia Jazz Festival.

His professional ambitions are to make quality band music with different co-musicians, polishing his artistic style to a higher level and to teach his instrument on a quality basis.

“Playing with Modern Art Orchestra means a lot to me – not only because I have a great number of occasions to play with world star jazz artists on the same stage, but also it gives me a constant inspiration to develop my technique and artistic level.”
